Thomas Plouff left the United States Attorneys’ Office in 1993 and decided to pursue a career in personal injury work, as it was more of a “white hat” job for him. He went on to practice in Chicago and had the luck of securing many successful jury verdicts, such as a record $5.3 million jury verdict for a knee injury in a trip and fall case, a $1.2 million jury verdict for an unoperated compression fracture at L5 in a construction case, an $11.11 million medical malpractice jury verdict for failure to diagnose bacterial meningitis, and an accident in McCormick Place in Chicago for another multimillion-dollar verdict. These successes showed that Thomas Plouff had made the right decision to become a personal injury attorney.
